I am wanting to do the ever so trendy satellite radio but don't know where to start. I have been looking at some satellite units that interest me, especially the dei starmate replay. I want to keep my current headunit, Pioneer 7400mp but don't know if I can just plug the satellite radio into it. I know that the hu is XM ready but will it work with SIRIUS? Any help would be appreciated because I know nothing about hooking up satellite stuff.
After a little research I saw this: Pioneer HU Tuners but don't know if my HU will work. On Pioneer's site it says that it will work with SAT ready HUs but mine says XM ready. Are they the same?
Thanks,
Pete

xm probably has a different hook up, I haven't seen the new units so I couldn't tell you for sure, but on mine they use what is called a fm modulator and it plugs in between your antenna and the HU, so you use a certain frequency for the stallite radio to tune into, unfortunatly mine is 3 yrs old and modulator never worked so I don't get regular channels but i'm sure the stuff works better now. IMO sirius is great you'll love it, no commercials and the signal is always clear.

I just found that out. I went to circuit city and played with a few. Broke down and bought the Starmate Replay. 80 after rebates. Install was as simple as could be. I relized that the wireless built in transmitter was all I needed. Sounds pretty good. Now I just have to get used to the channels and also find a longer cigarrete power cord. the one supplied wasn't long enough to wrap around the dash to hide the wires.
