Cap

Did a search and didn't find an answer for my question. I just installed a phoenix 3 farad cap, not that I really needed the 3 farads for my 500watt sub amp but it was only $54 on ebay so what the frig. Anyways the display isn't turning off on it. It didn't come with instructions persay, and I thought it was just install it right before the amp and your good to go. Basically I didn't charge it, the display isn't turning off, would like to know why, and if it's gonna hurt it any not being charged before it was installed.

hooking up an uncharged cap probably won't hurt the cap, but it can really screw up your car's electrical system. A cap with zero charge looks like a direct short to your car's electrical system. The amount of current that you can sink into that cap is massive.

I can't comment about the display not turning off, because the last time I bought a cap, it was well before somebody decided that they need a digital diagnostics center glued to the top of them.
