backseat amp progress

back seat of my camaro. check it out. I'm liking it

you can see that it appear stock, the amp box IS INSTALLED in this picture

hmmm.... a reason for me not to have sharp objects

oh what am I talking about it turned out fine!

took amp box out, installed amp, and one of my dist blocks. and put plexi over it to show you what its going to look like. amp is so freakin heavy it pulled some screws out so is saggin ont eh drivers side of it. , hence why I think the faberic cut seems smaller now... or not where it initiall was

that viper amp is swet with the mirror finish, will turn out awsome

tell me what you think. will screw plexiglass to wood box. and then should be able to pull over carpet to cover screws and will glue it and or staple it

Good work. That's exactly what I plan on doing that this spring. I'm going to be stuffing two amps (NINe.1 and NINe.2x - both 15”x10”x2.25”) and two crossovers (MB Quart - guessing 5”x7”x2.5”) in that thing.

I'm glad my amps are not as large as yours is otherwise it wouldn't all fit

I’m waiting for two reasons: first so that it will be warm out. Second so that no one will try to sit back there with the amps mounted. I have the feeling that the seat back wouldn’t survive. I plan on doing this and a cage install at the same time so that the rear seat won’t be useable anymore.

Any problems with overheating? I'd love to do this with my car, I hate wasting that whole storage compartment with just my thin amp. Is the seat still useable? I ride 4 people in my car maybe once or twice a year, but I'd really hate to be limited because of my amp placement.

I can't really talk because I haven't done this yet, but I doubt that the seat will be fully functional. If anything it will feel extremely weird to sit in because a good chunk of foam will be missing where the amp(s) are located. There's also the problem of a person leaning back and screwing up the wood supports in the seat, etc.

That said, I'm sure that if you built up the rear seat to have extra support you could easily have people sit back there daily. The only problem would be reduced cushion.

As for overheating: both my amps run completely cold so I don’t foresee much of a problem with my install. The very upper ends (probably top 4” or so) of the amps will poke above the hump so they won’t be completely isolated from the rest of the car.

I've got a pair of EQTs that will wind up in my seat someday. Good work!

Nice work. Going to try that with my AXP400.4 and DPX1000.2.
