Insulation/Padding

I've done a search for this type of thing, and found different responses, but none about which I'm asking. I have a '92 hardtop and I got new 3-way 6x9 speakers for the rear quarter panels and the magnets for the new ones are significantly larger than the old ones. My question is, since they barely fit into the stock enclosure, can I and/or should I cut out some or all of that black padding in the enclosure. Thanks!

You can run without the enclosure if you want. It's not going to make a huge impact on sound quality or output.
