power/accessory wires
power/accessory wires
I was wiring up my pioneer cd player in my 82 TA and I got both power/battery(yellow) wires hooked up. and I got my accessory wire from my cd player (red) and I hook it up to the orange wire on the factory wiring system because it did not have a red wire. however the memory is all screwed up for some reason and I tried hooking it up to some of the other wires and It won't even turn on if I hook it up to a different wire so should I just rewire it or am I missing something? someone help me please.

Is the factory wiring harness still intact? The Scosche Harness Adaptors are only about 10 bucks and all the wires are labeled for you. You can pick them up at Wally World (Wal-Mart) or many auto parts stores or custom stereo shops stock them.
If the factory harness is cut I would recommend getting a volt meter and make sure your yellow wire is hooked to a constant 12v source, have the red wire on a switched 12v source, and make sure you have a secure chassis ground.
Also you may want to search this forum for Radio Wiring Harness. I'm sure if you have a Camaro or Firebird all the info about the radio wiring is at your fingertips.
Hope you figure out your problem, good luck.

What do you mean the memory was all messed up? The memory would reset every time you turned the car off/on? If so your power and ignition wires were switched. Those are the only two wires that could make your memory messed up. The only other possibility is that the constant 12v line is no longer hot. Take a multimeter to it to find out.
