porting sealed box
porting sealed box
hey everyone i have this box Top Edge - Detail with two alpine type e's powered by an mrd 605 amp the box is 1.92 cu ft a sub, so i was wondering if i could port the box and how i would do so i looked up how to tune the box and found out that to tune a port to 35 hz with 1.92 cu ft of airspace i would need to make 1 3" port so how could i do so? just take a 3 inch holesaw and cut it out?

No. Any sealed box that's built to the proper specification will be WAY too small for a ported application using the same driver. For any given driver, a ported alignment will be substantially larger than a sealed setup.

Did this also show you the length of the port? That is just as important as the diameter. I wanted to port my box, but found out I would need a 3" dia. port, with a 19 inch long tube. Not happening in this trunk.
