Use 10 gauge stranded with crimp on spade terminals at the ampand female terminals for hooking onto ur subs.Anyone who tells you you need bigger than this for the secondary side of the amp has wasted their money and tellng you to waste urs. It'll burn the factory wire off the voice coil way before it cooks a #10 from there to ur amp so its obviously bigger than needed.I hate it when guys brag about using a huge wire as if its gonna make a 10 decible difference.Yet these guys don't even know what formulas to use to find voltage drop and powerloss on a circuit.Trust me i'm a electrician by trade.for those guys who bought a 0 gauge main wire, congrats on spending twice as much money on a wire to get 2 extra watts to ur subs.shoulda put that money into better performing sub

i think he means from the amp to the speakers jtufts.. if your talking about the amp to the speakers... dont get 4gauge.. depending on how big your amp is... like.. 1000wattts you should use 4guage from the batt. to the amp.. but if your tlaking from the amp to the subs.. 10 guage like bates said

The gauge of wire needed really depends on current draw over a given length. Amp to speakers. I would go no smaller than 16 gauge and most likely use 12 gauge. For power to the amp, I know there are many charts that are online. I would look at one of those and plan around what you will be running ampwise. Add some breathing room just in case you add a bigger amp or add an extra amp. Remember that the DC that powers your amp is way different than the AC that is provided by your amp to your speakers. Lets say that everything is 100% efficient. 1000 watt amp requires at 12 volts 84 amps rounded up. The amp puts out AC of constantly differing voltages to the speaker. Voltage multiplied by amperage = wattage. Anyway, amperage is the real key to wire sizing. Sorry for the electricity lesson. Look for a wire gauge chart for car audio.
