Radio reception help needed!
Radio reception help needed!
I recently bought a low mileage mint 89 formula. Had the original head unit (which I dont want to change). When driving it the radio reception is horrible (like the antenna is disconnected). I took the radio out and checked the plug and it was tight. I also checked the wire going from the head unit into the fender wall where it attaches to the standing antenna. I thought it was the head unit but my friends 90 TA with the same type of head unit has the same result (we switched the radios). What in the world could cause this awful reception? I have never had an issue like this and its driving me nuts.
Any thoughts from the audio experts would be really helpful. I even thought maybe something could be interferring with the reception like ignition source but everything looks good and the car runs great. When I play a tape it obviously plays perfect.
Thanks in advance....

My 87 GTA's radio had the exact same problem with radio reception, no matter where I went, and suddenly all that changed with the addition of a Kenwood EZ500 Head Unit
Hate to say it, but the only solution I know of is to get a new HU.
