Re: which is better

We would like to help you make your decision, but in order for us to do so properly, we need more info so we can make sure we recommend the proper one for your amplifier.

Please provide the model of amp and what the RMS power is and what impedances it is stable to in its various wiring configurations. We also will need the number of voice coils on the subs and their impedance per coil as well as RMS power handling.

If you mean by "dual" that the one subs brandname is "Dual", chances are the other sub you are looking at is better, no matter what it is. (Trying to be honest , not harsh)

If you can get us that other info, one of us can find the better suited one for your amp.

Eclipse 2/1 channel power amplifier model number:EA2212 maximum current 25A Load impedance:2-8ohm
1st sub is a dual 425 watts max
2nd sub is a db crossfire it dosent show the max watts any where on the speaker so i dont know

Re: which is better

See if you can figure out how many ohms the Crossfire is and look at how many voice coils it has (if it only has one pair of +/-, it is a single coil).

If the Crossfire is a single coil and is 4 ohms (most likely), wire the amp in bridged mode to the sub.

That Eclipse is a nice little amp. The Crossfire is likely a better sub than the Dual.

Get or build a nice box that is recommended for the sub (go online and get specs). A bad box will make a sub sound terrible.

^^^ erhm... if its single coil dosnt mean its 4ohms.. you would have to check it or get the specs, if you do it like that youll end up blowing the sub, you have to know the correct ohmage is for the sub before you hook it up

I realize that it doesnt mean that it is four ohms, it could be any impedance. That is something he needs to figure out. What I AM saying is that IF it is four ohms, which is likely on a basic sub like that, that is how he should wire it.

Also, you will not blow up the sub if it is the wrong impedance, however if it is less than a 4 ohm impedance (Not DCR as DCR is usually alwaws less than 4 ohms on a 4 ohm sub), you may overheat and eventually damage the amp.
