Sub, AMP, and 4x6's in a 92.

I have a 92 camaro, and Have a headunit from my brother's car. It's a sony CDX-gt200. Basically, it has a preamp out, 52wx4 max, CD, MP3/wma/etc, aux in. Looks great, and has everything I'd want. Now, I need to find some nice speakers, an amp, and a woofer or two, and build a fiberglass enclosure. I'd heard on a seperate site that it'd be good to just get 4x6's, and get rid of the 6x9s. Is this a good suggestion? What would be a good set of speakers for the money? I'm also kinda interested in a sub enclosure.

I want it to fit perfectly in the trunk (you know, the part that drops down). Also, I have T-Tops on my car, would keeping them back there when I have them out be stupid if I have subs? Would It cause any horrible sound effects? I know the steps involved in building the enclosure, and the hardest thing right now seems to be finding the middle if I'm going down the dual subwoofer road. What would be a good pair of subs for under $130 including shipping? I'm not looking for the most noise, or the best quality, but somewhere in between. I also am looking for an amp to power it/them, and don't even know where to begin. I also found a 18" sub that my dad had, but a) it's like 10 years old, b) it's kinda large for the car. I'm not sure of the brand because it's unlabeled, but I think that's out of the question. The total budget for this would hopefully look something like this
Subs:<140 shipped
Amp:<130 shipped
and I'm not sure what to expect for the 4x6's and possibly 6x9s.
Sorry for so many questions and I hope that this is clear.
Thanks,
Austin

In response for the 4X6's what I would do. Since you are familiar with fiberglass. I would forget about 4x6's and build yourself some kickpods using either 5 1/4 or 6.5 component set.

You'll have a much better sound doing that, plus it will look nice too!

I personally deleted the 6x9's from my in progress system. You'll get a better front stage without them, and you can use the money you save, on other parts of the system.

As for subs, are you wanting to spend $140 shipped for the pair?
If you can find some of the older RE (RE) series subs. I bought a set of them for a friend, For an entry level sub they are pretty nice.

I found some on Ebay. These are same model I got my friend.

$130 on an amp, really isn't going to get you much. You might have to find a used one. If you can find a used JBL 600.1 that'll run those RE subs very nice.

You're in luck!

I thought I remembered a post on my forum about a 600.1 being for sale. So I doubled checked and it was a 600.1

Here is his for sale thread

and his auction.

Re: Sub, AMP, and 4x6's in a 92.

hrm they look pretty good, but I'd like to stay away from dual voice coil@4 ohms, because I'd like to run 2x 4 ohm in parralel with an amp that'll run 2 ohms (I think that's the setup I saw in one of my books to get two ohms. I'm kinda clueless on the 4x6s though, anyone else have some ideas? I'll try and stop by somewhere local and hear some of the display ones. I'd also prefer not to do much fiberglassing now, and after some further price research (I've done it, but a while ago) it seemes expensive. I'll also be moving in the next few weeks, so I don't want to get into anything too big until I'm settled in, so the sub enclosure is probably gonna end up as an MDF. I hvae a pretty good idea of what I want. How're Phoenix Gold Ryval Subs? They say that they're 150rms watts, 93 db sensitivity, and 600 max. Seems pretty damn good to me. Oh, and single coil. So maybe two of those, and a mono amp with them in parralel. Questions, comments, concerns?
