Speaker size
Speaker size
I'm not exactly sure of the correct term, so I hope my question comes accross ok. How big are the stock speaker wells for the dash and rear speakers. I found a deal on a couple kenwood 5" x 7" and a couple kenwood 6 3/4" round speakers. I am just wondering if I can fit a 5" x 7" speaker in the dash and a 6 3/4" speaker in the back.
I have a 1988 camaro sport coupe. The majority of it is stock.
thanks

Re: Speaker size
You need 4x6 speakers for the front, and 6x9 speakers for the back. They will bolt right in. Any aftermarket 4x6 will most likely give you trouble on the Driver Front, but I just tightened it as far as it would go, and threw the dash pad back on. For the back, get 6x9's with a shallow mounting depth. There is a hard paper (like really thick egg carton material) enclosure behind the speakers in the sail panels. My jensens have a 3.0" mounting depth and fit fine. If you dont mind cutting the enclosure, maybe a 3.5" mounting depth would fit but dont quote me. Oh and I used clarion 4x6 in the front and they sound awesome (20w rms).

Re: Speaker size
5x7 aint gonna fit in the front, 6.75 can be made to fit the rear, but you need to make a mounting board. I prefer the round speakers to ovals myself (comes from doing competitions and being a judge I guess)
