Need help cause I have NO CLUE.....
Hi Guys... I have an '86 Iroc and this site has been priceless during the restoration so I am here to ask for help yet again...
I want to help out my audio system, which right now is no amp with a JVC KDSX770 head unit (50 watt x 4), two Boston Acoustics plate speakers under the dash cover and two boston acoustics 6x9 FX93 3-ways in the backseat that read Amp Power 15-75 watts and 4 ohms. I want to increase my power and sound quality at higher volume, but am not looking for a real strong system, only want to rock with the t-tops out. I found on e-bay a new boston acoustics amp (can you tell I love boston acoustics??) that is a 4 channel amp that puts out 45x4 RMS @ 4ohms. Will this do what I am looking to do, or do I still need more power? I have been told that the 50x4 I have now is not putting out anywhere near the 50 it says, but that RMS is the actual wattage? Anyway, as you can see I am pretty much clueless on modern audio equipment, but I know with your help I can get it right! Thanks in advance and God bless!!

A 45x4 rms amp will sound a million times better then your deck powering your speakers...rock on!

Agree with guy above if thats all power u want out of it, I like Bass but thats just me, anyways
to help u out when buying a amp dont go off of the total watts go off of the rms watts. and a amp would be alot better then the jvc i preffer a good kenwood or alpine deck that u can find for bout 85-130 dollars and sound good witout amp but thats up 2 u

One more question (for now...)
I am looking at a BA GT-40 which is a 4 ch amp with 45x4 rms, but now I saw a GT50 which is a 5 ch amp with 45x4 plus 1x190, I don't have a sub, but should I consider this setup instead of just the 4 channel?? OR maybe I'd just be better off getting the GT42 which is 70x4 rms?? This would be easier if they only made ONE KIND!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

all three will do the trick. If you plan on maybe adding a sub woofer later, i would buy the 5 channel just to be safe. But other than that its completely your choice.
