I have a cheap *** sony headunit. Its nothing but the wiring harness for 4 speakers and an antenna. I only run 2 6x9's so I do have outputs open.

I bought a 2/1 channel 250w amp with the plans to run a 10in sub off of it. The only thing is that now I dont know how to output to my sub. I'm guessing I should take my 2 speaker outputs that I still have and splice them into an RCA cord to plug into my amp?

I guess there will be no nice on headunit sub controls this time round...

Does that sound like the right thing to do?

I had one installed in my dads s10 xtreme. Local audio shop carried it and works perfectly. I could have done the install myself but didnt feel like it lol.

just connect speaker wires from radio to this unit and connect your rca cables from this to amp.....im gonna use it for my 95 t/a when i get it out of storage

Does that filter out high frequencies too?

I'm definatly gonna have to pick one of them up rather than hacking up wires.

Wait signals below 20hz? What hz are subs designed for? I thought bass = low hz's

20hz is high pitch(hurts your ears)=tweeters

then other end

20 khz is lows(bass)=subs/nice 6x9s

least thats how a buddy just told me......also went and got a cd that has a audio test for cars.....

called 20 hz to 20khz......goes from ear spiltin to bass pounding

Re: Subwooder with no preamp output?
You have that backwards my friend:

20 Hz would be bass, or low frequency

20 KHz would be tweeter, or high frequency

Hz = cycles per second

The more cycles per second, the higher the frequency.

EDIT: That unit does not act as a crossover, it is a converter. The high frequencies
will still pass through.

You can use an inductor (passive filter) to cut of the high frequencies to
the sub.

Re: Subwooder with no preamp output?
THat page is full of typos. Here's another page:

http://www.sjgreatdeals.com/tb-sni35.html

Anything under 20 Hz is cut off because the human ear cannot detect
them. Most amplifiers and head units have frequency ranges of 20 Hz to
18 Khz (some up to 20 Khz or more).

The bass range is said to be 20-180 Hz. THat is why your dad truck stereo
is able to produce good bass tones.
