Audio newb. Most likely an easy question for you guys.

The audio system in my IROC is stock (not bose). The only modification is a Sony CD player. After some searching here, I purchased INFINITY Kappa 693.7i 3-way 6x9 Speakers.

They come with 2-way external crossovers. I believe that's what I have circled in green here:

Do I need to hook them up? I thought you only need to use those if you have an amp? I figured all I had to do was take out the old 6x9's, and put the new ones in. Then attach the wires the same way. Any help would be appreciated.

ive never installed kappa but most non component speakers with the external x-over they are pre wired and all u do is stuff them in the cavity, but yes if you dont use them u will either only use the woofer or tweeter(s). if u do have to wire em its not a big deal pretty much speaker input from radio on one side then there is a woofer out and a tweeter out, i recommend zip tieing or something so they are secure in your side panel

if you bought component speakers then yes, you will need to use the crossovers. they separate the highs to the tweeters and lows to the 6x9. its quite simple to install. just a + and - in and two + and two - out. One pair to the 6x9 and one to the tweeter
