No Sound!!!

I've got a Kenwood KDC-MP235 in my 89 Camaro. Worked great for about a month and then out of nowhere I lost sound! The stereo would appear to work perfectly fine but there would be no sound! Today I finally decided to try to troubleshoot since I got some new speakers. I pulled the stereo out looking for some cut or shorted wires but only found one of the speaker wires pulled out of the harness. I put the wire back in, turned the car on, and holy **** the stereo worked! I started replacing all of the speakers and after each speaker I would turn it back on to see how they sounded. Just my luck after I hooked up the last speaker I turned it on AND THERE WAS NO SOUND! I checked every wire behind the stereo and nothing was wrong! I checked the fuse on the back and it was fine! What the hell could it be?? I'm driving it 500 miles tomorrow and its REALLY going to suck if I can't get it to output some damn music! Someone please help

Re: No Sound!!!

Today I redid the connectors on EVERY wire coming off the back of the head unit and verified that I have the 12v power, 12v constant, and a good ground. I turn the stereo on.. it operates perfectly.. but still no sound! Is there no advice anyone can give me? =(

Re: No Sound!!!

Are you using the factory wiring harness to run your speakers. Some of the older models use a common ground system. If your using the factory wiring for the aftermarket speakers, you may want to run new speaker wire. Just a thought.

Re: No Sound!!!

Its not the factory harness. The wires in the radio pod look like they've been ran through a few dozen times before I got this car. The speaker wires themselves I know are good because I have gotten sound out of all speakers at times. The power wires however I have no idea what they were originally too. One of them is pulled over from under the dash on the passenger side so I'm fairly certain it probably wasn't the original wire used for the stereo. However the wires I did find under there have the 12v so I'm not sure why it isn't working.. Also I've got about a half dozen other wires cut off behind the radio. I have no idea what they're for. Anyone possibly have the wiring diagram for the stereo?
