Mass Backing or Dynamat, Rammat, etc
Alright guys i'm gonna be doing a new sub box this weekend, in it is gonna be 2 12" alpine type r's. i am also gonna be replacing my carpet too. So i figured since im adding to my system, I'm probably gonna have some interior resonance which will annoy me. when i was shopping online for the carpet, i have the option to add massbacking. do u think i should do massbacking or something like dynamat or other sound insulator product. thanks alot guys and for carpet, sound proof materials im gonna go on a 500 budget. i can get front and rear charcoal carpet w/ massbacking for 313, or 250 w/out the massbacking. Do u think i should not get the massbacking and just get the insulator. thanks

depends on how much work you wanna do. Dynamat your whole car takes a long long time and its not fun. Hurts the back too. But its well worth it. I wish my car didn't vibrate as much as it does now. Dynamat isn't cheap either if your gonna get it get the cheaper knock off stuff its the same thing basically.

to keep your car from ratteling from subs u dont need to dynomat every sq in of it. actualy a 5 by 5 in square on the inside of a 1/4panel would keep it vibrating the whole point of fully dynomating would be to kill road noise but mass backing does an awsome job at that. i replaced the carpet in a car i used to have and i payed the extra 50 for the backing and it was well worth it. you wont really get sub rattle in the floor but that backing keeps noise down plus insulates well.

Try Damplifier or Damplifier Pro. Works better than Dynamat and is cheaper

you can also get the roof material from lowe's or home depot that is the close to the same compound as dynamat, and is self adhesive. put 2 layers down on the floor, and that massbacking wont be needed
