What in the world
What in the world
Okay, I have a 88 iroc. The last time I checked these cars were Mass produced. Not hand made in france. I discovered a rusted out metal brake line in the back above the rear end. No Problem I said. I can get metal lines at the local parts chain and bend them myself..... Yeah right. After searching it two towns and five auto parts stores I finally found the lines and the connector that fit the rubber line in the back. I discovered today that the fitting in the front that goes to the proportioning valve is very different. What are they thinking when they design these cars. Do they not consider that hard working americans might just want to fix their own vehicles.
Sure I could take it to the dealer and probably pay 300 to 500 for them to put on a brake line for me but thats not going to happen.
Am I the only one that is dealing with this bulls*%t?
Are there any easy fixes??
Thanks for letting me vent.

get a flare tool.. cut fitting off old line, put fitting on new line, reflare it..
Re: What in the world
I cut the old line but I had a tough time getting the fitting out of the prop valve. Does anybody know where I can get a new fitting. Nothing at the autoparts stores in my area fits?

The fitting is 14mm 1.5 bubble flare for 6mm line. Only place I have ever found one I from FedHill. Maybe eBay?

the black nut on bottom not the brass one up top
