questions about which speaker is best for your car.
this post is not to poke at these questions, but to try and consolidate them into one.
first of all. in a third gen, you're basic setup is a 4x6 in the front, and a 6x9 in the dsail. i think i've heard there was a dif setup on certain models? (someone else please clarify if so)
there is no 'perfect' speaker for any car. it is up to the listener. there are many good brands to choose from.
a few are:
infinity
eclipse
jbl
polk
kicker
OZ Audio
focal...
etc....
they range from $59-1599 for high end components.
the main thing is, do your research audibly. go to a local store that has some speakers you're interested in. take your own cds of stuff you listen to. i know its not going to sound exactly like your car in the store, but you get a basic idea of how speakers react, and the levels of frequencies moving through them.
a couple things to remember as well. dyno-matting, or whatever brand, behind your speakers, (and anywhere else you feel like putting it) is GOING to help: the bass response, the road noise:audio ratio, and clarity. also, having good power to your speakers is very important. i dont care what the face plate says, you're deck is not pushing 54wx4. thats a peak that will never be reached. you're probably getting somewhere in the 12-14w rms range, which is why they distort when you turn it up. so in turn.....find a good 4-channel. especially if you like it loud, and you have subs. it will help level out the bass, and mid/highs.
i hope this helps anyone in the market for new speakers. anyone else with info, im sure i missed a couple things! haha
