The Performance Sound slider switch and present day systems

Not sure if anyone has ever tried this before, but has anyone ever rigged up the Performance Sound slider switch to work with their present day sub system, as sort of a gain control for their subs? Granted there are much more advanced ways of controlling this (via the head unit itself), but just for the hell of it. My current car doesn't have the feature, but my old Firebird did, and I'm tempted to scour the local yards to find the slider if anyone knows how to make it work. Just a thought.

If you do a search

+UQ7 +Amp +Wiring

i believe the fourth thread tried to cover this, the end result was that some got it to work, while the person trying to write the tech article says that it didn't work. Noone confirmed that it worked.
