Re: factory radio connectors?

Definitely don't look like connectors, but I have a different year (85). My car had the ERS system from the factory that has two 5 X 7's in the dash and two 6 X 9's in the sail panels. I've heard that not all 5 X 7 aftermarket speakers will fit the dash openings since there isn't a lot of room underneath.

Re: factory radio connectors?

Those are factory Delco/Packard connectors for something but not the radio.

The original radios had 4x6 speakers in the top of the dash with mono radios and additional 6x9 speakers in the sail panel with stereo radios.

I'm puzzled then, any Ideas to what they might be?

I think they may be A/C control connectors.

well, I thought of that, but the ac controls don't have anything that those would plug into.

could they be the connectors for a mono radio? they only had the two 4x6s right?

Re: factory radio connectors?

I checked my '84 service manual and the diagrams for the A/C control head connectors look pretty much just like the connectors you have.

The connectors in the attached pic below are what was used on Delco radios from '78-88. Black is the radio power/ground/nighttime lighting/power antenna UP signal, white is front speakers, and blue is rear speakers. There is no difference in the connectors for mono and stereo radios.

Re: factory radio connectors?

I was out where my '82 T/A is stored today and checked the wiring harnesses since they're out of the car. There's no doubt those are A/C control connectors. The single terminal is the fan blower power feed, the gray connector is for the fan speed switch, and the thin black connector is for the function rotary switch.

Re: factory radio connectors?

The gray connector goes on the fan speed switch, the other one on the back of the rotary setting switch that's mounted on top of your heater control assy, visible if you pull the unit out of the dash
