Sub Box and T-tops

I have an 87 TA with T-tops. I was thinking about making a sub box for the open space in the trunk after my engine swap. I have the original T-Top bag that clips into the rear. Has anyone built a sub box that allows for the T-top bag to still clip in? What size subs were you able to fit? Pictures?

Thank you

yes, flush mount for 10's......I remove my t-tops all the time and put them in the stock bag. 12's will have to stick up some because they are deeper.

Clips using all the stock mounts, I may take a better pic later

If you're only looking to run one sub, this is what I had done

I have long lost the plans I sketched up and this car went off to the junkyard in the sky about 2 years ago, so dimensions and cuts have long been lost. I found this setup to work pretty well, only took up a little bit of space (and it was sealed, not just a quick plate setup), and was almost completely out of sight when the top bag was in place.

I have a very similar setup which also has a carpeted cover made from expanded metal. It allows me to use the cargo area for "cargo" and also allows me to strap down the T-Tops. The enclosure is constructed of MDF and fiberglass with a facade on top to make it all appear flush.

Re: Sub Box and T-tops

UGH thats the only thing i hate about my system! I really wish i had a good place for my t-tops. Now i just put them in the bag and then put it in the back seat. I mean there protected but i wish the back seat was "uncluddered". Heres a quick pic of my system....as you can tell it takes up ALL the room...i didnt think about the tops when i built everything....here she is....

Re: Sub Box and T-tops

Thanks guys. Ive got an amp mounted inside the little compartment on the left of the trunk. The guy I bough the car from already had the whole thing wired with alpine speakers and amp. I think I am gonna go with two 10's and hopefully a carpeted cover.
Swapping my engine this week, so the subs will come after.
