Power Button Does Not Work - Help

I just bought a factory radio for my '87 Iroc. I'm happy with the purchase as a whole. However, the one button that doesn't work is the power button. I am considering opening it up, and was wondering if there's anyone out there who has taken one of these apart. Are they complicated units? Would I need special tools? What can you guys tell me?

When you find out, let me know. That's the one thing on my GTA's radio that doesn't work. Of course, now that I've shaved the antenna, I'll have to do some re-wiring anyway... LOL!

Thats a common problem with the delco radios.Ive seen it on quite a few.The power button will push in but wont click into the on position.Ive taken plenty of them apart. No special tools required.

Re: Power Button Does Not Work - Help

So I finally got around to opening the radio a couple weeks ago. I removed four or six screws to detach the bottom plate from the unit. There is a little black box with two very thin wires (red and orange, I believe) running to/from it. As far as I could tell, this is the power button assembly. The bad thing is in order to remove this assembly, it seems I would have to take apart the entire face of the radio. And after that, there would still be no guarantee I could fix the button. It just kind of sucks for me because I'm one of those people that turns things off, like the radio, before I turn the car off.
