I found this fiberglass sub box that is custom to fit irocs. but honesty i cant tell if its good or not. so what do you guys think? does this look like it will work? are the subs going to be to close to ym trunk and just shake the **** out of it? also what does it take to paint one of these? can an amp be mounted inbetween the 2 subs?
what brand's would you guys sugest? id like to get the 2 12" subs and a am for faily cheap.
this will be going into a vert if it works.

Re: advice.
Never messed with fiberglass. Yet. can't really help you on the box, I built my own. As for subs, entry level Alpine type Es are what I started with $100-125 a sub. but it really depends on what you want to spend, set your budget and shop around that mainly. Watch for good deals on amps that will be your most expensive part.

Not sure what you're looking to do, but I'll throw in my $.02 - save your money and get what you really want. Do it right the first time and you'll be money ahead, and happier with the end result. Maybe it's just me, but I "wasted" a lot of time and money by starting with cheap stuff and gradually upgrading. I'd upgrade when I found out an inexpensive component didn't do what I wanted it to do, and I eventually spent the big $$ anyway after dropping a lot of coin on garage-sale stuff. Not saying you can't get good items on the cheap, but maybe some food for thought. If I could do it all over again.... But then again, if you just want a bit more bump, shyte - Crutchfield, Walmart or your older brother's college roommate can be great sources of good equipment!!

Re: advice.
...my .02 cents....dont include walmart as a good source for car audio lol...but ya idk what your getting at about the box. Like said above just go build or buy what you really want. Fiberglass is nice and fancy if done right. KEY on done right. Its to hard to know inless we see pictures of the box or something. As for painting the best way to paint fiberglass is to first sand...sand....and sand it smooth...then do bondo around it.....then sand.....sand....sand....primer it and then paint....blah blah...like you would a fiberglass panel on a car. I went the 3/4 MDF board and wrapped her in some carpet and wa-la...a nice looking loud system :-). I also noticed you said it would be going into a vert. CHECK to see if it says its specifically made for a vert. Verts have total different configurations to do systems. IMO its a PITA to do a good vert system.
Re: advice.
thanks man, im looking at used systems trying to find some decent kickers for around $200.
i realy want to paint the box, but carpet would be so much easier. could you be more specific on the process of painting the box? Id like to paint it red with black flames.
im 99% sure the box will fit. it was built for the well space and the measurement match my trunk so it should just slide right in like a glove.

Im not a huge fan of fiberglass. By the looks of that box it doesnt look toooo bad. Idk personally it doesnt float my boat at all. If i were you and u buy that i would deffinitly look into some spray on sound deadener to spray the inside of that with. It looks kind of thin and seems like it will have alot of unwanted noize. I also noticed it looks like there is no speration between the two sides of the box. That is controverial wether that is good or not. Also check out if there is specs on the cubic feet of the box. You have to find subs that will work in that size box. Idk man personally i would just go build a new box out of 3/4 MDF board. Its not that hard even if your not good at cutting wood. Just measure twice and cut once. Thats just my .02 cents

I have a glass box in my Camaro (after years of MDF boxes) They are so much better.
tail light goes out, so easy to lift a glass box out of that well. They are so much lighter.
I really can't tell if the box you're looking at is good or not tho, have you tried sitting it in your car? how far away is it from the hatch? Examine the box, look for cracks, does it seem sturdy?
How much do they want for it?
