Could you recommend some good bands? I like punk but haven't bothered to know groups other than the Ramones, The Clash, Rancid and the Sex Pistols

Those guys have been around longer than some of our member are old!

Black Crowes are rowdy enough for the car. Their greatest hits package is quite nice.

I'm sorry but I believe that was Sucktallica's debut album. That was their best album too. Metallica was crushed under a tour bus in a freak accident in 86 or 87 on the Master of Puppets tour. But managed to rock from the grave in 88 with the release of Injustice for All. That last true Metallica written album. The first Metallica also spun off Megadeth, as Dave Mustane wrote allot of Kill 'em All, but was kicked out of the band because of too much competition with James Hedfeild.

Re: What kinda music are you listening to?

Dire Straits-Money for nothing
ACDC-Shoot to thrill

When I look to get an adrenaline rush, I put either of these two songs on and drive my trans am like I stole it. I listen to anything rock, though I lean heavily towards older bands: ACDC, Dire Straits, ZZTop, The Scorpions, Boston, .38 Special, Motley Crue, Guns N Roses, and these are just off the top of my head.

Currently, I've rediscovered Sammy Hagar. Try Unboxed with its "I Can't Drive 55" anthem and the lascivious "Baby's on Fire."

This thread is just cracking me up! No offense to anyone but its amazing to me that so many of you still listen to 80's rock in your 80's cars!! I mean there is so many current bands out thee that still play rock (ie nickelback, theory of a deadman, godsmack, saliva etc etc etc) it just amazes me how many just figure the music must stay in the same decade that the car was built!!

Personally, I have never listened to one rock song in my IROC and even dating back to the 80's when a friend of mine had a brand new 1984 z28 we never listened to rock. I appreciate the 80's rock but its mostly something I listen to at the gym when Im working out...not driving in my cars.

Again, not trying to slam anyone but its more just an interesting observation.

As I do as well. I listen to far more music than I report on here. For example, yesterday morning while attending to my mod duties, I listed to Tchaikovsky. This morning I chose Tom Scott for some upbeat jazz, then Clapton while fixing lunch. At the moment, I'm enjoying The Art of Noise over a cup of tea. I don't believe that Tchaikovsky, Scott or The Art of Noise would be car-listening recommended by most, certainly not me. I must say that a large/broad music collection makes choosing what to listen to very enjoyable. Speaking of choosing, I think I'll try The Ting Tings here in a bit. Oh, and I make no apologies for the '80's!

I am with you sir, differant music for differant times, the Yellow Jackets (jazz) make great dinner music when you have company over in the backround. I like Thriving Ivory when I work out and something a little heavier when working on my own car. I will never apoligize for 80's

Foo Fighters, Keeping rock alive. Scandinavian Viking metal Amon Amarth etc, Iron Maiden, Black Sabbath. I just can't stand the radio anymore. Maybe stuck in the 80's as far as music is concerned but I'm OK with that.

There fixed it for you, lol. I'm totally digging the "Beyond Magnetic" EP. While unfinished; it's a big return to thier older sound while not trying to parody themselves. Sorry, I have ALWAYS been and ALWAYS will be a true Metallica fan. Even through the "Reload" mess lol.

Thing is with 80's rock, it gets stuck in your head and most times if you watch ppl around when it's being played, they *** mostly *** start groovin' with the tunes!!!
Some times ppl can take it or leave it.
Im pretty pumped! I just purchased tickets to Van Halen who are coming to Seattle in May! I attended a Motley Crue and a Dokken concert last year too. I love 80's rock but just dont listen to it in my car....I just dont associate camaro's with rock music whatsoever.

Re: What kinda music are you listening to?

I am tired of turning on the radio & hearing stuff like
Bob Dylan, The Trogs, SteppenWolf, etc...........

Yes I do like alot of the 60-70's stuff, but I guess what I should do is be more clear-- I see there are alot of 80s mentioned.

Lately I just pop in QueensRyche, Iron Maiden, Ratt etc,
There seems to be too much replay of late 90- current rock all day long.
The only mention of anything classic 80s has been
David Lee Roth & Van Halen doing it again.

I guess it's true---
Everything comes back into style!!!

I do turn my satellite channel to 80s Rock // metal more often in the last year.

Been enjoying both The Ting Tings and Girls Aloud--UK bands seem to have hooked me in the last few months. However, Billy Squier on deck.
