Need help. Trying to fix a cd player?

I am in my school shop working on my parent's S10 for a project,
The cd player in it quit working some before me and my parents were talking about using it for a shop project.
it doesn't turn on or anything, so I pulled the CD player out and checked both the power and negative wires and they are making good connection to all the way to the plug in back of the CD player.

I don't know any other reason why it shouldn't work, and I don't know what have caused it to not work.

(and I don't think there is a wire grounding out, but I could be wrong. when we first bought the truck, I'd put a CD in and it would shut off and spit the CD out, and i'd have to turn it back on and it would do it again. later in the summer when I was helping my mom clean it, I found a wire that went under the carpet that was touching the body, and I got rid of it and it fixed the CD problem)

I carefully took it apart (to see if I can find anything that broke or melted.)
only thing I see wrong is the white wire tab (not sure what else to call it?) connects from the main circuit board to the cd holder. there is a small circle and two wires shown, but I don't think they were melted or no burn marks from what I can make out of it.

if any one wants to know what type of cd player it is, it is a Pioneer DEH-43 (SupertunerIII)

I really don't want to toss it in the garbage and go get a new one, because I do have hope for it to work and be great if I can make it work.

Any ideas?

Thank you.

You need three things for the HU to power on. Ground, B+ constant, and Acc (or switched B+). If you have all three and the HU will still not power on, the problem is on the HU. It's shouldn't be anything on the CD mech, the HU will power on without the CD mech connected. Ground must be a good ground. If it's in the HU there are some other things I can suggest checking, but store with ground, B+, and Acc.
