radio conversion in thirdgen cars
I have an 85 firebird and an 89 Trans Am GTA. I like the radio in my GTA much better than the radio in the 85 firebird. I was considering trying to buy a radio like the one in the GTA which has the steering controls. However, the 89 GTA style radio requires you push the mute button on the steering column to unlock it. Is there a way to adapt that style radio so it does not require the steering pad mute button? I can not put the GTA type of steering wheel with radio controls on the Firebird. So, the only option to use the GTA type of radio in my Firebird is to have a way to adapt it for use in a car without the steering wheel radio controls. I know replacementradios has wiring harness adapters which can power the newer radios with the older style connector. Any thoughts?
I also know that replacementradios has even newer style radios unlocked and adapters to make them work in the 85 but I don't like those radios as much as I do the type in my 89 GTA.
