Aftermarket Audio Help!!!!
Car: 1987 Camaro Sport Coupe
Problem: I just bought the car this week and the guy took out his sound system. I have loose wires with no deck at the moment. The problem is that if you look at the wires there are what look to be the three small stock conectors but also one big one(the three smalls can fit into). The big one has a bunch of blue speaker wire running out of it. What the heck do I do?
PS: I know he had three 12" subs and two amps in the car. That's all I know.
What I want: I have a Dual XDVD8182 deck I want to install along with a 12" sub and amp. I have a wring harness(identical to the bigger one mentioned) and a din adapter kit. I'd really rather avoid the step of following the blue speaker wires to the end becasue that would require disassembly of most of the interior...
PLEASE HELP!!!

Re: Aftermarket Audio Help!!!!
pics? im guessing the blue wire comming out of the big one is the adapter to install a head unit. it prob has those wire because the po was powering the cars speakers with and amp, just replace this and make sure the speakers are connected to their proper wires.;

He did have two different amps, i just wasn't sure. So if you're right I can scrap the big harness and use my head unit with factory wires? Only upside to this is that he also left in the 4awg power wire, rcas, and the rest of the wiring
anyways.. Thanks for the help ellocojorge.

I'll post pictures tonight to see if you can help at all. Only thing I don't understand is, if he used another amp, are the factory speaker wires connected to nothing?

Re: Aftermarket Audio Help!!!!
They should be hooked up. the PO created a loop of sorts with the sound path. new radio---> amp with RCA wires, only rca's and power wires hooked up to deck. from amp back to connector behind radio using blue wires and reconnected to factory connector there, it is fairly common in car audio to do this, that way you dont have to run wires from the amp to each speaker, just to the common point behind the dash where they all meet. if the amps are now gone, all you have to do is hook up the factory connector to the new wiring harness and you should be done. Ignore the other connector or remove it if you never plan on having the sytem amp'd. ALSO.. check to make sure the fuse was removed from the 4GA power wire under the hood, not good to have live 12 volt wire floating around in the car unattached, lol
