What factory (Delco) radios will fit in my Camaro?
Re: What factory (Delco) radios will fit in my Camaro?
My 92 RS still has the original Delco cassette player, I always liked the way this unit sounded, very clear and strong. I use my mp3 player in the car with a Sony cassette adapter. Im very pleased with it, and the mp3 player sits nicely in the ashtray. Stereo has very good highs in the treble , and good lows in the bass.

I've never seen a better looking radio in our cars tahn the ones that came from the factory. I don't think they sound bad either, as long as your speakers are in good shape
I did see a 1 1/2 din aftermarket (pioneer?) one time that looked good, but they aren't made anymore, and they sell for more used than they did new

Any delco stereo with the same connector will work, even the newer theftlock units, theres a thread here on how to unlock them IIRC. you can use units that don't have the same connector but then you have to splice harnesses or find an adaptor. I replaced the aftermarket stereos in both my cars with factory units and enjoy them, I use the cassette adapter and like you said, the ashtray is perfect for an mp3 player.

I wish the units like the one in the picture above were black insteda of grey. I'd have one of those in a heartbeat
I actually already have one, but I can't use it because of the color. doesn't look right

I have 3 of those eq radios at home atm but they are caddy faceplate (i just put the firebird plate on mine). I'm figuring out the aux input jack for an mp3 player right now. If I figure it out ill post how to do it.

Re: What factory (Delco) radios will fit in my Camaro?
I ended up getting a Bose unit from a Camaro (87 I think). It's got completely different connectors in the back but I will probably take the car to a shop to have them put in new speakers all around, wire in an amp and get everything working.
As far as adding an AUX input...I bought something called RediRad. It's like the FM transmitters but it uses AM. Also, it plugs directly into the HU antenna jack (the antenna plugs into the RediRad, but a relay automatically "disconnects" it when using the RediRad) so it should have as good of sound quality as a cassette adapter or soldering in an AUX input. My problem with the AUX input is that as far as I know the only way to do it is to have the AUX automatically activated when something is plugged in, or to find somewhere to mount a switch. With the RediRad I push the button to switch to AM and that works as the AUX button essentially. I can still listen to AM as well (although I NEVER have). I haven't hooked it up yet but when I do I'll let everyone know how it works.

congrats for finding that that is way better then one of those wireless transmitters. I did figure out how to do the aux jack on the delco but you need to have some soldering skills to do it.

Yea I'm good with soldering this thing just works better for my needs and I can always remove it and sell the unit as stock. It was pretty expensive though ($75) and that was like half off!

Thanks for the trip thru Nostalgia!! I haven't seen a cassette player
with the CrO2 switch since.... Lol !!!
Post 42 pic is a nice looking one.
I would like to put one in.
Our other DD someone tried to cut the HU out!!!
It has mp3, iPhone jack, Aux, SD, CD, & AM / FM. Funny thing is I paid $40 for it in a kit at WalMart a few yrs ago!

Re: What factory (Delco) radios will fit in my Camaro?
I wanna bring this back up from the dead because thats the exact radio I got with my car. The RPO code says UX1 radio but I would've thought it'd have been grey then? Is it some GTA only special?
