Packing Peanut Subs?

I have dual 15in. subs for my trunk and just have a top piece cut out to hold them. I was wondering if instead of making the rest of the box, if i could just fill underneath it with foam packing peanuts to bounce the sound back up?

thanks
Ryan

Build yourself a box. It will pound so much harder!

if you really want to go radical, you have to take all of your spare tire stuff out and fiberglass and resin all of your space on both sides of your wheelwells, then you can fab up a nice board for your fifthteens , that is what they really need anyway,i saw a firebird done this way from custom audio. i live in lima ohio where custom audio concepts is at. one time they were rated number one in the world, They were the first ever to get a 40 out of 40 in sound quality, they know what they are doing.

Re: Packing Peanut Subs?

packing peanuts will not aid in the sound of your sub, they're filling up your "enclosure" space. A proper enclosure will always sound better than just a plate, but if you must fill the space with something, polyfill (or similar) would be the way to go

Go with a sealed box and polyfil.
