Factory CD Player problems ("ON" not working at times)

I have this type of factory radio

And I have been experiencing an issue with the radio. That has occured for years now but was completely at random. But this passed week it's done this every time I first start the car and attempt to turn on the radio.

I turn on the car and press the "POWER" button on the left and nothing happens.. No response.. Yet the other buttons like "set" work...

I basically keep pressing the power button and it just doesn't respond. Then either leave it for like a few mins and try pressing it again (then it suddenly works as if there was nothing wrong in the first place), or just keep pressing and suddenly it will work.

It's nothing to do with something loose I don't think because it just works whenever it wants to.

I've tapped the cd player and it's nothing loose.. as if the power to the switch is being blocked and then something gives way or something.. Strange..

Any ideas?

Definitely sounds like a problem with the power button.

I would try removing the front cover and checking for grime inbetween the button and the circuit board. Like fixing a TV remote control.

Clean the contacts on the board with alcohol and a Q-Tip. Not too much because over the counter alcohol still has some water in it. If it is dirt that should do the trick.

if it is that, how would it just work after a short while on it's own? Almost like the power needs to build up at the power button.. strange..

Temperature changes can make electronics come and go.
