what alternator/battery people using
I am using two amps. One is about 200 watts and it poweres my fronts and sail panels. The other amp is 1200 watts for my sub. They are drawing way to much power so my battery volts bounce to the bass. so I need a battery alt combo that will work. Doesn't have to be all to fancy. Just needs to fit my needs

Have the amps grounded well? Stock battery should be plenty. Need like a 4 guage wire for the grounds on the amps, and connected well to bare body metal.

Yeah. Could be bad grounds. I had a thread under electrical about my alternator wiring because even before I hooked it all up, when I am idleing volts are good, 14 or so, but as soon as I put in drive , they drop to like 8 or 9 and radio and things cut out. I may just have a bad alt and battery

could be - both alternator and battery can be tested at most any parts store - while still in the car.

I like my deck on a switched 12V source so it only comes on when the key is turned to run or acc. Deck memory should be on a constant 12V source.
I have a Yellow Top Optima (actually 2 and an isolator) powering my system and have had zero issues with it (them) for more than 10 years. My alternator is a stock CS130 that has been rewound to output 140 amps and has no trouble with the draw of my 1400 watt Memphis Belle. Also, all my power and ground cables are at least 4 AWG .

Yeah. I may have to just get a yellowtop. I rewired my alt like I was told to on Cascade Crew site, but it didn't help. I also tried running it while jumping my battery with my truck, but also didn't help. It works till like volume three, and then just my sub works, but my front and sail speakers cut out.

my 2 cents.
do not run your head unit straight to the battery. it could end up killing your battery or starting a fire.
upgrade the battery, i usually find the biggest cca battery i can fit and go with that. i use the yellow duralast and have always been good to me even it a 2400 watt rms system on stock alt.
4 ga is absolute minimum i would go.
and like said before be sure all grounds and power connections are in good shape. number 1 problem in car stereo installs.
i have used capacitors to help with the pulsating lights but that should only be used as a band aid on high volume levels.
how are your amps wired? i mean is the sub amp closest to the battery then feed to your small amp?
i like this site a lot for car audio info cause they have small real handy calculators and charts. the12volt.com

it may also be a ground that is not in the stereo wiring if you have the volt drop just driving with the stereo. you can try just adding a good ground off the battery.

Re: what alternator/battery people using
It ended up being the ground. I still think I need a bigger alt, but it will work for now. I was thinking a powermaster 140 should be enough for my setup
