I found another radio in my shed that is from an 89 olds can i swap the cassette mechanism into the blaupunkt for it to work? You can swap any radio if you have wiring diagrams, if not you're flying blind and I don't suggest it unless its either the same model radio, or you have a wiring diagram for each unit.

I think he's talking about switching the tape player mechanism itself and not the whole unit.

Probably the only way to go about doing that would be to get them both out and compare with each other.

Yeah, what seven said. I know I could easily swap the olds for the blaupunkt. I have the stock brackets i'll just throw those on. They are basically the same size. But, i rather have my stock radio to work with the gain switch and amp. I'm already having my subs re-conned and the 4x6s work well. I have a ton of cassettes that i want to use

Re: Is it possible to swap?

I have a couple shoe boxes full of old cassettes. If modern technology hadn't taken over I would still have a deck in my ride.I think it would be cool to keep the stock deck and get a cd changer hidden somewhere.I have an fm transmitter for my mp3 player but thats with an aftermarket cd player in the car.If I had a tape deck I would play nothing but old Black Sabbath tapes in it,blairing the whole time.

Re: Is it possible to swap?

I use my fm transmitter now with my deck it cuts in and out and the sound is horrible. I want to blast pat bennatar and whitesnake i have the cassettes just need the damn player to work. On an off note do you guys know how to jerry rig the deck in my house so that i don't have to disconnect battery, take old out, connect new, and then re do battery.
