Factory GTA radio reinstalled, nothing happens
Except the clock comes on. I figured it was the wiring but I have double checked it using several diagrams and the wires are all correctly placed. When I turn on the ignition all that happens is that the clock and lights come on. Nothing else happens though. No sound, not even noise, the antenna doesn't pop up either and the casette player doesn't work either.
Anyone know what can be wrong? I replaced the rubber belts in the cassette player and had it apart then, can I have ruined my radio somehow?

Opened it up again to take a look, I noticed this metal wire protruding, I hadn't noticed that before, what the heck is it?

Re: Factory GTA radio reinstalled, nothing happens
Sat and fiddled with the wires last night (quadruple checked, all wires are correctly placed) and it suddenly started working, then it stopped after I turned off the ignition and turned it back on. Seems like a contact error of some kind. Maybe its the car, or the radio.
Considering building a test rig or something, I could use an old PSU for getting a 12v current (can both the constant and switched 12v run from that?) and hooking up some old speakers.
How important is it to hook up the dimmer, lights and other connections in order to test function? And what do they "want" on those wires?

Re: Factory GTA radio reinstalled, nothing happens
Yellow - 12v (pin #9, connector #1)
Black - ground
Grey - panel lights
Orange - data line
All easy to supply except the data line. The steering wheel controls are required to unlock this radio by pushing the "mute" button every time the power is disrupted to the orange/black "memory" wire (pin #10, connector #1) on the HU. I'm sure there is a way to jimmy around this issue, but that would require an electronics wizard which I am not.
EDIT: sorry, wrong year. 1991 does not use steering wheel controls.

I've used this diagram to connect the wires:

And yeah I don't have any steering wheel buttons.

Re: Factory GTA radio reinstalled, nothing happens
I measured the wires today with a voltmeter and the power ones are correctly placed and both give power (11.80 volts on both when ignition is on, continuous 12v jumps up to 12.00 when ignition is off). So I guess the radio is to blame. Maybe a bad connection from the plug.

Took the radio to a service shop and they said it was the powerbutton that was broken. He's gonna see if he can get a part from a scrapped car, if not he'll bypass it and make the radio on all the time.
