Where to find Delco radio plug?

Hi everyone,

I am looking for a replacement pigtail so I can reinstall a factory radio in my Formula as mine was cut out for an aftermarket stereo by a prior owner. Where can I find a replacement that will be a color to color match without going to the junkyard and cutting out an old harness? I searched this forum yesterday and saw the name of a company that had them, but didn't write it down and can't find that thread today.

Thanks!

It looks like the one Drew linked you too would be no more than cutting one from a junkyard, since has pigtail leads & would require splicing in to. Brand new not used, but splicing still required. Although I seriously doubt you could ever find one that was 100% to wherever the wire lead terminated.

Re: Where to find Delco radio plug?

If a person wanted to get REALLY tricky, they could buy the terminals from the dealer, and TXL wire online, then make up a whole new radio harness... But it'd be a little silly since no one will ever see it buried in the dash.

I'm ok with just neatly splicing the pigtail into the existing harness with butt splices.

Get a soldering iron, shrink tubing & solder them together. I hate the crimp butt splices.

Re: Where to find Delco radio plug?

Okay this is a little of topic but I have an 89 rs. I don't know what radio came in it, it did not have a radio at all when I bought it. The harness was cut off, I am assuming I would need the delco one mentioned above ot this one http://www.ebay.com/itm/Buick-OEM-Ca...sories&vxp=mtr

But if am going to do an aftermaket radio what is my best option? I was thinking of putting the factory harness back on them buying an adapter with my new radio. Thinking the the factory harness would be easier to match the color wires too then getting an adapter would make it easier if I change radios down the line, no more splicing.

Re: Where to find Delco radio plug?

89 would have had the three separate plugs (white/blue/black) with another plug for keep alive memory. The Ebay auction you linked is an aftermarket version, or you can get the right separate plugs online too.

If you're using an aftermarket deck, I'd go one of two ways... If you're going to use the factory speaker wires, go ahead and wire in a stock plug and use an adapter. If you're going to run speaker wires anyway, run a new power and memory wire from the IGN and BAT terminals on the fuse block, wire up your speakers and go. It'd be silly to mess with harnesses and adapters for 12v+ constant and 12v+ switched.

Re: Where to find Delco radio plug?

Pico sells the three separate plugs... http://www.picowiring.com/pdf/Cat-35-38.pdf
So does a vendor on Amazon... http://www.amazon.com/Stereo-Harness...BK?tag=bmpj-20
I don't see the 12v constant plug though... It's the same as the speaker connectors.

Google with terms like "GM radio repair harness", it might take a little digging.

Re: Where to find Delco radio plug?

Guys,
I have an 87 Iroc, trying to reinstall the original factory radio. I have ordered 2 pig tails already and both not the one's I need. Everything I have seen on this post doesn't come close. http://www.ebay.com/itm/Buick-OEM-STOCK-Radio-WIRE-HARNESS-PLUG-1982-1987-/110705534406?pt=Motors_Car_Truck_Parts_Accessories&hash=item19c69065c6&vxp=mtrThis one looks the closest to what I have, I do not want to order another without being sure..Fortunately they have all been $3-4 each. The link shows it is for a buick, I know GM is GM can someone just verify...thanks alot
