Is it possible?? Please read!

Ok so I have a 1992 firebird with a stock radio. I love the stock look so I don't want to buy an aftermarket cd player. But i also love to jam out as i drive but the speakers i have now are no good for what i listen to (rock and some rap). Also the driver side front speaker doesnt work all the time just like 40 percent of the time. But it doest work when i am only playing the radio. if i put a cassette in it will have problems. Is that the speaker itself or wiring??? Anyways I was wondering if I buy some good speakers, will I be able to install them and get good sound with the stock radio??? And by good sound I mean turn up the volume with out static and what not. Please leave advice I will appreciate it thanks a lot.

Not to sure on the radio, I would assume its inside the radio itself making the driver side speaker not work with only cassettes.

I'm not to good with stock stuff but I'll take a stab since no one else has yet, You'll need a Line out converter and a 4 channel amp to get good distortion free high volume. Without a sub to overpower them youd probably be fine with just 40 watts a channel

The stock headunit just doesn't put out much power, even a $50 clarion would have a higher rms than stock. Not to mention have a better signal to noise ratio and other stuff i wont attempt to act like i understand.

Now you can go buy some 4x6's and 6x9's or whatever is in your car, And just replace them. Some people are perfectly fine with this. I wouldnt define aftermarket speakers on a stock headunit without an amp as loud or clear.

To start with the cassette issue is internal on the head unit, can't do much about it. As far as replacing the speakers goes yes you can replace them and no matter what speakers you put in they will not help with static, that's a radio thing, you can thank awesome tuner packs from the 80's on that one, as far as distortion goes your factory headunit, or any head unit alone for that matter is that good with distortion which is most peoples concept of "static"

Buy a 2002 Trans Am Monsoon head unit, and replace your speakers with some inexpensive Pioneers. You'll be happy with that.

there are places that repair car radios and can add an aux input so you hook it to a cd changer.
