Custom Sub box and Amp rack installed
well since my car is drivable again I needed some tunes, so I put my old audio system back in. I have a single 10" Rockford Fosgate (4 ohm) shallow "Punch" sub with matching amp, 600 watts max, 300 watts RMS, Kenwood amp for the speakers thats rated at like 60 watts RMP per speaking I think, matching Kenwood 6x9's and 5.25's, and a pioneer head unit with Ipod hook up and a remote.
Here's the old box I had, and the amps that I had to fit in the rear well:

I decided to mount the sub to the side like in the above pic, have the rockford fosgate amp recessed but still in view, and hide the kenwood amp under the cover board. Here's the rough cut cover board:

I thenk used some scrap to mount the amps, and painted the back drop black to hide it:

test fit the amp:

then I built a small box (0.5 ft^2 as per the sub requirements), and its not in the pic but the Kenwood amp is mounted on the bottom of the amp holder

then I wired it all up, tucked the wires, and here it is:

from the outside:

Now I just need to get some matching carpet, and a head unit to chassis adapter, plug it in and crank up the tunes!

Re: Custom Sub box and Amp rack installed
finally got the head unit in and all wired up, 100% soldered and heat shrunk no crappy crimp connectors or wire nuts in my car
It sounds really good with the sealed box, I forgot how good these cars were for bass, it's LOUDDDD with the hatch closed
still waiting on carpet, I have it picked out from 1A-Auto I just need to order it (and a headliner, hatch struts, and speaker covers)

I have no idea hte dimensions of the box, sorry :/ I just measured wit ha tape measure and cut the boards out - it was real easy
It sounds really good! I like a sealed box its much tighter sounding than the old ported box i had 2 setups ago. The only thing that rattles is the liscense plate and my head!

Re: Custom Sub box and Amp rack installed
yeahthe bottom of the box rest on the floor of the trunk well to support the board. I had a problem with it sagging becasue it wasnt quite touching, so i made some spacers (blocks of wood) and now its all good and supported

Re: Custom Sub box and Amp rack installed
Great job, looks similar to the one I had custom built to the specs of my sub. It sits low enough in the well that you can make a protective carpeted cover flush with the floor.
This is made from expanded metal (basically a strong screen) re-enforced with a framework of 1" stock and covered with carpet to match.

This shows the underside
