DVC 1 amp per coil?
I have 2 12" dual voice coils subs. Will running an amp per voice coil, 4 amps total, work?

There is an extreme lack of inormation here.
What subs?
What amp?
Why would you run an amp for each voice coil?
My point is unless your running jackhammer subs from mtx, which are roughly 12 grand a piece, running a single amplifier to a single voice coil will fry the coil in a heartbeat.

I concur.. Having multiple amps on a DVC sub causes the voice coils to work against each other and they will self-destruct. if you're going to run mutiple amps, make sure each sub has it's own sealed chamber and not a combined chamber, similar result, amps will push against the opposite sub and may cause damage...

Re: DVC 1 amp per coil?
The question was more of a theoretical question as oppose to a "will this setup work".
The subs are a Pioneer Premier TS-W3002D4. The specs are DVC coils, 4 ohms per coil, 3500w max. 1000w nominal.

The amps I have are (4) PPI PC2600. They run 600w x1 mono at 4 ohms.
http://www.precisionpower.com/Manual...Amplifiers.pdf
The original idea was to run 1 amp to each voice coil, which would give the subs around 1200w rms. The question was if the coils would get out of sync and self destruct if there was one amp per coil.
The subs will each have there own enclosure.

Re: DVC 1 amp per coil?
Break it down to the basics, those amps are far from efficient so multiply the fused total by 14.4 then subtract 25 percent to get a better idea of the true output.
Secondly running 2 amps to one of those subs is a terrible idea. The chances of you setting both amps properly to work in perfect sync are slim to none without a full o-scope and the know how on how to tune an amp with a meter. There will be people who challenge that but my world is black and white, you run two amps, the exact same brand, same model, one serial number apart and the output is different. Look at any high end amp they have their own true rated power certificate, no two come out the same one after another, 3/4 gain on amp "A" will be higher or lower that 3/4 gain on amp "B". That just the manufacturing process. Additionally if you ran 4 of those and they somehow grisly made 600 watts you would be looking at a costly 0 gauge run to a 4 gauge split. Not camaro or firebird friendly usually. Not saying it can't be done but its a pain. Fwiw those pioneers aren't the worlds greatest piece, run them at 600 a piece (each) and call it a day. Just jump the terminals to 4 ohms a piece and run the amp to em. Pioneer is not known for true ratings, just flashy pieces with big number to excite the 16 yr olds with their new car when they're strolling through Walmart with mommy. Generally speaking of course, I've never seen these ones at Walmart but I've fried my fair share of them because I followed their numbers listed.....shortly before we dropped them for excessive failure. Pioneer fell out of the game over 5 years ago they're just runner up in every area now that's why I still run my old deck from them, it was a great deck, then they cheaped out and fell where thy are today.
