Hey guys. I am trying to reinstall my factory delco 16138181 radio with the cassette player. I got everything hooked up (I think, because the PO pretty much hacked up everything installing an amplifier and aftermarket speakers, switched wire colors, etc.) The clock will light up when I hit the power button, but will then fade away after about 5 seconds. If I keep hitting the power button it'll stay on. When I hit the "set" button, the word "set" appears next to the time, and then both fade away after about 5 seconds. I can set the correct time and the radio will hold memory, for the clock anyway. I know at least my front speakers are working because I heard a "bop" when I first turned the key with the radio plugged up. But that's about all my radio will do!!! Do I just have wires in wrong places thanks to the PO, is my radio broken, or am I not doing something right with the buttons? I have never worked one of these radios before and I'm pretty good mechanically, just an infant with wiring. The antenna is plugge in. Any advice would be appreciated. Thanks in advance guys!

Before we condemn the PO or the radio, lets go through the wiring first. Attached is what you should have (although butchered up by the PO)

 

If you can, just connect the yellow power wire, the orange power wire and the ground and go from there,,,
