I need help picking a radio and mounting kit.

ok so I bought my 16 year old son his camaro and we have now done lots and lots of work to it to get it running properly. So now for Christmas he would like a radio. He will only be using the MP3 part of it, so can anyone look at the radio and mounting kit below and tell me if it will work. I am trying to go really cheap. Also if you have any suggestions on speakers. He has an 87 camaro sports coupe LT.

Radio (had to go with Pioneer since when I was his age and camaros where the big rage, everyone was buying Pioneer radios...lol and yes I know this is telling my age )

Mounting kit

Thanks for any help any of you can provide. I have some pictures posted in my profile. We started working on some of the body, but then hit major problems when one of the heads cracked.

I like it.

Here: http://www.sonicelectronix.com/item_...EH-1300MP.html

Cheaper overall due to free install kit/harness and free shipping.

I don't know how interchangeable they are, but for my 84 T/A, I bought a 2000 Camaro CD Radio with CD changer capability ($80 from Ebay). I think picked up a GM AUX09 Ipod adapter that plugged into the CD changer port on the back of the radio. The IPod/MP3 player plugs into the GM AUX9 adapter, and runs through the radio. Looks "stockish" and works pretty good as far as I'm concerned.

For what you've picked out, that looks good too, I just don't think aftermarket radios look good in our cars.

I agree completely with you keeping it stock looking! But my 16 year is a different story. It is not that he doesn't want to keep it with the stock radio, he just has no way to play his music in the car. This one has the cassette in it. We have tried the cassette tape converter, that was a big bust. The we got the one that plugs into his phone and you find the open radio station (sorry not a technical person...lol) that was a fail as well! I am going to look into what you have done and see if it is an option! Thank you!
