Dash & Rear only... No kick / door speakers..

I have a 2 way 6.5" for rear... a 2 way 4" for dash and a 6.5" mid range I was wanting to place in the door / kick panel....

My thoughts are, should I even bother with the 6.5 mid range?

(I will also have a few 8 inch subs in the trunk)....

The rear speakers are going to be so close to my ears anyway...

Any thoughts from those that already have a similar system?

Thanks,

Rafael

The problem with the dash speakers is that they are just so small that all they will produce is highs. Plus it will sound like all the sound is coming from the rears. If you can find some kick panels you like, I'd run the mid and put a tweeter close to it.

Re: Dash & Rear only... No kick / door speakers..

I have the pioneer 4"x6" front speakers in the dash with a separate 35 watts per channel RMS amp, alpine 6"x9" speakers in the b pillar with a 150 watts per channel amp and an infinity self powered subwoofer with 10 inch speaker and I think 300 watt internal amp.

The sound is amazing and I don't think adding any midrange to the kick panel would do much to improve the sound.

I do suffer as mentioned before that the driver side b pillar speaker dominates the sound except for the sub. The front speakers just can't handle enough power to catch up with the b pillar speakers without frying them.

Such as life in the third gen. My system is still by far one of the best sounding systems I have ever had and one of the best sounding systems under $1,000 without out multiple large subs and crossovers, etc. I have heard.

I'm sure there are better, but mine is nice and I think you will be satisfied without adding the extra hassle of the kickpanel mounted mid range.

Thanks for all the replies....
I'm not a fan of the tweeter mounted in the kick panel, which actually puts it further away from my ears than if it were on the dash... I'll have to see what the mounting depth is of my 6.5 mid... maybe put it in the door... (I know there's not much room...

Re: Dash & Rear only... No kick / door speakers..

well, in my years of audio installation i have found that the kick panel is about the best place to put your front sound. the reason is, it is the place where the speakers are the closest to the same distance from your ears, yes you will need a little more power to them, but it wont be a lot ... i have been building custom boxes for almost 20 years (until my buddy didnt tell me he was losing the shop, and all my tools with it) and you can build a nice kick panel box set at home for around $50, no need to buy a $200 set
