Has anyone else tried this?

It might sound totally retarded (and it just might be), but how about putting a spring under the receiver itself, inside the dash, to act like a shock absorber for the cd player?

I got the idea from the silly Infiniti SUV commercial that says the radio has "its own suspension system". I could devise something more complicated and effective, but first I'm wondering how silly the whole idea is to begin with?

I would bet that it would cause MORE skips. I discovered years ago that with a portable cd player, it skipped more when I held it then it did when I velcro'd it to the floor. The cd players are more able to deal with quick shocks than they are long swoopy movements. Plus, virtually no new cd players will skip under all but the most severe conditions, so I don't see a need for improvement.

Guess I'm the lucky one. All I have holding my CD player in is the mounting kit. I don't have anything mounted to the lower stock bracket and my cd player never skips.

My cd player is also being held only by the mounting kit, and I don't even have the anti-theft strap back there to support it. The roads in Miami suck *** , so it skips quite a bit

Someone at a car show told me thirdgens come with some plastic thingamajig in the back of the radios, making the mounting kit come out. Anyone know about this? Mine's missing it, if it ever was there. Is that why my cds sound like Stuttering John sometimes?
