Best place to mount an AMP

Where is the best place to mount an amp? I am have small dinky amp now... and I kind of wedged it up just behind the passenger side part of the dash.... Was just wondering where you all put your amps.

yo, do you have a trunk well lid that locks? if so i mounted mine on the underside of the lid cuz its lockable, and out of site. ive also seen people carve into theyre back seats and mount the amps so theyre flush against the gas tank and the seat fully locks into place. ive got a friend that mounted one in the little lockable tool box, and one where the spare tire goes, theres mad places, just gotta think

But my question is, dosn't the amp need air flow to cool the amp? Mine is just sitting on the gas tank next to the sub. That way in can get sufficent air flow. I will be putting dark tinting on the hatch so you can't see them and it will keep the sun from beating down on the amp causing it to get hotter.

I'm one of the guys that carved my back seat. It looks cool and leaves me a bit more space since my amp is out of the way. I mounted it as high as possible so it gets max. airflow and there's enough gap between it and the gas tank that the carpet doesn't melt. It works great.

Im with hummer, i have three amps and a crossonver mounted in my seat. If im alone, i just keep the seat folded down, but even with them up, they dont overheat. Only had that happen once, and it was a five hour drive with the system goin FULL TILT, and i was late august, real hot. Plus the carved seat looks killer for the install. Heres a pic:
