Lanzar Amps?
Lanzar Amps?
What does everyone think about these? I have some old opti-drives (50 and 100) laying around the house that were in my Monte Carlo SS when I totaled it back in high school. I was thinking about putting them in my Camaro but were wondering how they compare with the amps of today or if they were just old out-dated crap.
out-dated: yes
crap: depends on who you talk to
Lanzar was a fairly large name in the SPL scene up until about 97 when the company was sold off.
I wouldn't say that their equipment was bad, but it is by far not up to speed with the current equipment on the market.
I know this doesn't help much, but my opinion would be, you have them...they still work...use them
If you don't like them, ditch em' and get something else. If you do like them, then all the better

The old opti-drive stuff hammered. It was as good or better than the Rockford stuff of the time, which was considered top-dog by everybody. There really have not been many technological advancements in recent years except for the rapid acceptance of class D technology, so for the most part amplifiers have not changed much. A little bit higher efficiency maybe. The new lanzar stuff is pure ****. Lanzar was bought out by Pyramid. Their old stuff is good stuff though.

I agree the old lanzar opti's were great I have a set of 4 lanzar lxr amps still running in my TA. They will work I said use them untill they die. Better than paying more money for just a little better quality.

Thanks for the replies, I was planning on reusing them. I was just inquiring about how they compared to the amps of today. I have been out of the car stereo scene for some time now, and I have no idea what features the new products are coming out with now. In fact its been so long since I was into car stereos that when I got out of the hobby Rockford Punch 45s were the "in" thing to have. I havent seen one of those in a long time. I guess Im getting pretty old. Haha
