QUESTION

I HAVE 2 12" JL'S IN A SEALED INCLOSURE IN THE BACK OF MY CAMARO. THEY SIT RIGHT ABOVE THE GAS TANK.WE TRIED TO MAKE THE BOX AS BIG AS POSSIBLE,BUT THE SPEAKERS ARE TO CLOSE TO THE REAR HATCH. THEY SOUND LIKE CRAP. THEY DON'T HIT HARD AT ALL ANYMORE. IS THE SPEAKERS TO CLOSE TO HATCH WINDOW,OR NOT BIG ENOUGH BOX???? THANKS

What is the recommended air space for those drivers? you shouldn't exceed what the manufacturer says.

P.S. TURN THE CAPS LOCK OFF!!!

The mfg will specify a range of acceptable airspace for a sub. When you say you made it as big as possible, do you mean the biggest airspace recommended or as phyically big as you could?

Typically, a situation like yours, having the sub close to the window will give you the effect of "compression loading" which will give you tighter bass. I agree with the others that you may have too big a box.

The box goes from side to side and the speakers are rated at 1.25 cubic foot. i think the box is 13 inches tall, and about 13 inches wide.
