Sub box questions?

I want to run a single 12" sub in my T/A. I am gonna build my own box (sealed) and I was wondering if it would be better to build one that has the sub firing toward the glass or one that has the sub fire into the wall of the hatch well (like a truck style box). This will be my first box and I know the truck box would be easier to build, but will I lose a lot of sound quality with that style box. Wouldn't the subs sound better aimed at the glass?

I'm very happy with my Kicker Solo-baric 12" firing up at the glass. I have also done other f-bodies and had them fire up out of the well, at the glass, and they were impressive.

My Pionner is firing up at the glass, and i am happy with it. It's also angled towards the front.

All of the boxes that I have built to date have had the sub facing up, but for my next project I plan to build a box with the sub facing toward the back. Hopefully I'll be working on the box this weekend unless my IROC decides to break more stuff. If I do, I'll post pics and my results. I'm going to be using a single 12" W0 sub. BTW, anybody know how much airspace that sub wants?

jim, for the jl sub, call the retalier and ask to speak to one of the installers, they should know. or just go the website and they have all the specs.

Thanks guys. Right after I posted this I discovered that the sub had the spec sheet with it. The box is 95% done, but I'm too lazy to finish it. Hopefully by next week I'll have pics.
