Sub Hook up Question
Sub Hook up Question
Okay, i just got two 10's in a box, and was wondering how to hook them up. I have to go get an amp today - what should I get? A 200watt? One 10 is a Rockford Fosgate and the other is an MTX. My stereo has front and rear RCA preouts. Now, should I hook the amp up to the rear preouts, and then hook the speakers into the amp, and run power back to the amp? How should I do it? And how big should the power wires for the amp be?
Thanks for any help

You're not going to want my opinion, but here it is. Pick one sub or the other. Mixing different subs sucks. It sounds bad, and sometimes won't hit as hard as just 1. After you pick a sub, follow the bridging instructions for the amplifier and you'll be all set.

I agree. Mixing two different types of subs does not only sound bad, but it can be bad for your amp if you run them in 2 ohms mono. I would suggest picking the best out of the two, selling the other one installing it using good 11 guage speaker wire and 8 guage for your amps. DO NOT CHEAP OUT ON WIRE (especially RCA's)! IF you have anymore questions e-mail me at Finch.fbody.com
Thanx!

run rca's from the rear outs from your raido to your amp. run 12 guage speaker wire to your speakers from your amp. Because you have two different speakers, run two different amps. one briged amp per speaker. Get two small two channel amps, maybe 240 watt each. run 4 guage power wire two a splitter that will give you two 8 guage outs and run one to each amp. rember to run the same gauge wire for ground. If you run two amps, you will have to split your rca's with y connectors (one female in and two male out) so you can supply both your amps with a signal.
