Skipping Pioneer Changer...
Skipping Pioneer Changer...
I've been having a problem with my Pioneer FM1235-S CD changer. Whenever I have the volume on my deck turned way up, my changer starts to skip really bad. It's never bad when the volume is down, though. Could my speakers be putting out so much that it is causing my changer to skip? The CD's that are in are fine, no real scratches. Also, if I rewind and try to go through a part that just skipped, it plays it fine. Should I be looking at covering my changer with some dyna mat or something?
Do you have subs?Where is youre changer located? Its a very good possibility that if you have subs located near the changer that it skips for that reason.Try shielding it (changer) from the vibration.

Yeah, it would probably help if I posted info on my system. All my main equipment is located on the hump behind the passenger seats. The changer is towards the front, right against the seat, in the center. On either side are amps. Behind the amps, on the outsides, are a pair of boxed 6x9's that fire towards the front of the car. I know that they certainly could be hitting the changer with bass, but could they really be producing enough to make it skip?

Bass vibrations can definetly affect your CD-changer. You may want to consider moving the changer to a place with less vibration.
I'm curious about what type of CD changer you have. Mine is hard-wired from the head unit to the box. Is yours an FM model? If so, the freqs from the speakers may be causing distortion when you push them. My CD box is about one foot away from 2 12" subs and I have never had any problems with the changer skipping.

Pukka, great thought about the frequency. I'm trying to find out how to change the thing, but with no book, that could take awhile. My changer is an FM-1235-S, by the way. It's great except for that small problem.
