Amplified subwoofer enclosure?
I've been on the fence with getting a subwoofer because I recently swapped the head unit and all 4 speakers in my '86 z28, and the speakers all sound good but they dont have the bass response i used to have in my previous car (which only had head unit and speakers swapped also).
Outside of the replacement headunit there are no amps running these speakers, and i dont have any experience with amps so my ideal fix was to get an amplified subwoofer enclosure to fill the gap.
I also dont want to lose the little trunk space i have.
Kicker makes the hideaway sub for instance, that I thought would fit the bill, but I wanted to know if anybody has experience with enclosure such as that kicker, or similar ones, and whether its worth it or if I should try something other than that.
Trying to stay under 300-400 dollars because I have other plans going on with my old car.

Re: Amplified subwoofer enclosure?
Years ago, I had a small 8" Cerwin-Vega sub mounted in a sealed bandpass enclosure mounted in the back of my Dodge Daytona. Took up a fair amount if room, and needed an external amp, but sounded really good. After that blew out, I picked up a Bazooka brand bass tube. It was self-powered, but much smaller in overall size, and sounded great. I wasn't looking for ear-bleeding, feel-the-thumping-in-your-chest bass that some people like, but they both were able to produce a good amount of bass. The Bazooka can be had in a small enough size to fit down in the bottom of the rear well without taking up too much room. If you don't have a spare tire anymore(as probably most of us don't) it can might even fit behind the plastics where the spare is stored. I haven't measured it cause that's where my amps are mounted right now, but it should be close.
