Ok, i am getting 2 Eclipse subs from my freind for 40 with the box, however one is blown. I intend on using it on my home reciever(has 130x2 @ 4 ohms) But only one sub works so i need to hook a single voice coil 4 ohms. I am sure the reciever can go down to 4ohms stereo but im not sure about 2 ohms stereo. I dont think there is anyway of bridging a reciever without "The Switch" So is there any device i can use that equalls on voice coil over two channels. In other words is there suh this as an external "bridger"???

Re ask your question. I think that you have some errors in it. I think you mean your reciever puts out 135x2 @ 8 Ohms. Home equipment usually runs at 8 Ohms. Just go get another sub. they don't have to be the same.

Sure it's cheap and everything, but those car subs will sound like crap in your home. Your best bet is buying a powered sub. I have a Polk Audio 10' home sub w/ 180 watts, and it bumps louder than my neighbor's 15' car subs......guess that's why I'm heard on the 3rd floor....and I'm on the 1st.

To the first reply, My reciever has ratings for both 4 and 8 ohm.

I dunno what i am gonna do, i was gonna buy a powered sub, but i rather spend 300 dollars on somthing else. My freind said the other sub may not be blown, then i would just have to buy a crossover. I will hook them up tommorow and see. Thanks

yea, like he said, subwoofers are designed to use a car amps power, thats why when you plug em in at home they sound like crap, powered woofers are the way to go, Polk (drool) quite nice, i might get some in exchange fer doing this one dudes system, and theyre pooowerful for bein so small.

Why not, save up, and by another eclipse? and pop it in your car?

I'm surprised your home receiver would offer 4-ohm ratings. What brand is it?

My guess is that if you ran the two subs and your two 8-ohm house speakers in parallel (that would be a 2.7 ohm load), that your receiver probably wouldn't blow up, but I'll bet it would run hotter and have a shorter lifespan.

I would just find another old amp or receiver and use it only to power the subwoofers. It shouldn't be too hard to rig it up so that the volume control on your main receiver would be able to control both amps...just get a $20 line-out converter.

Also, you could find some old amp with one blown channel or something...wire your two subs in series for a single 8-ohm load which would make the amplifier very happy.

Its a Pioneer. Its got a ton of power, i have used it to power big parties, the amp up 3/4 vol. with 2 sets of speakers on it for like 10 hours non stop, no problems. Yeah it says like 115@8 ohm and 130@4ohm. I think i may just buy a powerd sub, a KLH or somthin
