The factory 4" subs are trashed and I was wanting a replacement. Should I just run a 6x9 and remove the subs?

 

You'll get varying opinions on the 4x6 and sub Vs. 6x9 argument.

If the coils and cones are still good in your subs, but the foam edge around the paper cone is shot (normal), they can be rebuilt. Mantaguy turned me on to this idea. Here are a few places that offer the service.

Kee Audio does a complete speaker refit for the UQ7 boxes using modern speakers. I've been talking with him via Facebook and it sounds like a pretty good deal. I'm leaning that way for my GTA right now...
